The Musem "Flori de Mina" from Cheia house parts of the collection of mine flowers "Mihai Viteazul", exhibits with a great value, material evidence of the evolution of the natural environment.
In a wide variety of shapes and beautiful color the mine flowers impress with their unusual beauty.
Those 175 pieces displayed at Cheia were grouped after scientific criteria into 22 windows, and the related information is displayed on 14 special panels.
On the panels are presented data on the genesis of the mine flowers, the main deposits, a short mineralogical dictionary and data on the geometry of the crystals, the crystals examined under a microscope. The exhibits come from Baia Mare, born after neogenic volcanic eruptions, being conducted in several stages. The mineralizations are composed of quartz, sphalerite, galena, pyrite, chalcopyrite, calcite, barite, rhodochrosite, realgar, marcasite, gypsum and they have the shape of lodes.
In the central part of the exhibition you can find a collection of mine flowers, that consists of 16 amethyst and citrine geodes, with the heights up to 1.80 meters, and five outstanding examples of calcite, quartz and gypsum from the patrimony of Ploiesti County Museum of Natural Sciences.
